Clear groundwater data for safer, more predictable operations.
Clarity underground. Confidence above.
Groundwater behaviour directly influences the stability of tailings dams, open pits, slopes, haul roads, shafts, and critical foundations. When water becomes unpredictable, production slows, risks increase, and decisions become harder to defend.
GE Monitoring delivers complete groundwater monitoring systems built for African mining conditions - combining proven instrumentation, deep drilling capability, and real-time telemetry that keeps your team informed, aligned, and ahead of risk.
When water behaves unpredictably, production and safety are at risk. Our systems are engineered to give you reliable pore-pressure and groundwater data in real time — so you can make informed, defensible decisions on site.
Vibrating Wire Piezometers (PWP Monitoring)
High-accuracy pore-pressure monitoring for TSFs, pit slopes, foundations and underground environments. Accurate pore-pressure data allows engineers to manage stability, predict risk early, and make confident operational decisions.
TSF pore pressure tracking
Open-pit & underground dewatering
Foundation & abutment stability
Consolidation and settlement performance
Seasonal groundwater behaviour and long-term trend analysis
We carry out fully grouted multi-point installations in boreholes for detailed pore-pressure profiles.
We routinely work at depths beyond 1 000 m and in boreholes drilled at almost any angle, including horizontal, sub-horizontal, and upward into underground ceilings.
All cables are protected using heavy-duty conduit, trenching and other measures for long-term survivability.
Every installation goes through full QA/QC, including sealing verification, construction logs, baseline readings, and formal commissioning.
We install instruments in drilled boreholes using filter packs and bentonite seals where appropriate.
Standpipe Piezometers & Monitoring Wells
For sites using manual water-level readings or legacy monitoring infrastructure. Legacy standpipe networks can be modernised and integrated into real-time dashboards without modifying the existing wells.
A vibrating wire piezometer is installed inside the standpipe
The datalogger logs atmospheric pressure separately
This allows legacy standpipes to be included in real-time monitoring networks without structural modification.
Surface Flow Monitoring (Radar)
Real-time tracking of surface water behaviour to complement subsurface groundwater data. Combining surface and subsurface water data gives mines a more complete picture of watermovement and risk.

What you get.
What you receive from every project.
Before any equipment goes into the ground, we make sure your team has complete clarity on what’s being installed, how it’s been validated, and how to interpret the data that follows. Every project is delivered
When the margin for error is zero, leading global mining operations come to us.
We understand the pressure. For over a decade, we’ve helped professionals working on some of the world’s most complex sites manage groundwater and slope stability with clarity and confidence.
Packer testing to extreme depths in adverse conditions, over 2000m down and water tables greater than 550mbgl.
Large-Scale & Always Online.
Multiple sites with upward of 200 instruments delivering continuous data directly to site teams and management — a proven track record in large-scale monitoring solutions.
Reliability Proven in the Field.
Reliable performance backed by over 10 years of continuous operation, with instruments still active at depths beyond 2000 m on remote sites.
Our process.
From uncertainty to confidence.
1
Assessment & Specification
We review site geology, groundwater conditions, and project goals to determine the optimal piezometer type and installation layout.
2
Installation & Calibration
Our field teams install instruments to spec, verify response, and record calibration data for full traceability.
3
Integration & Reporting
Instruments are connected via dataloggers and LoRaWAN telemetry to Bentley Systems software for real-time visualisation, alarms, and reporting.
4
Ongoing Support
We provide recalibration, troubleshooting, and spare parts through long-term maintenance and service agreements.
Let’s design a system that works for your site.
Whether you need a single automated standpipe or a full TSF porepressure network, our team can design, install, and commission a system built for your conditions.
